My Office

I recently found this blog that shows the gardens of popular Christian authors. My husband keeps our lawn looking great, but my skills in the flowerbeds aren't as impressive. So, instead of showing you my garden, I thought I'd show you where I spend a lot of my time - my office.

My office is actually the formal dining room in our house. Since we eat at the kitchen table, we use the extra space as my office. I'm lucky to have a sister who enjoys decorating. She helped me choose a lot of the pieces and put it all together.

The big black thing on top of the desk is an old window frame from a building that was being remodeled at a local university. We found it at a garage sale. The ceramic cat is also from a garage sale.

This is the perfect chair for reading. My mom wasn't using it anymore, but it was in a floral fabric. At the fabric store, I heard about a lady who did re-upholstery out of her home, and she recovered it for me in the hounds tooth. It was much more affordable than finding a new chair. I spray painted the mirror black and found the antique typewriter in front of the mirror at a garage sale for $5. Do you see a theme here? I love garage sales!

I'd love to see pictures of your garden or your office. If you post them, please leave me a link to your blog in my comments.

  1. I don't have a picture of my writing space. Wah.
But I love yours--especially the "CREATE" sign. And what a great reading chair! YOu'd never get me out of it. LOL!

  2. OMGosh! I have office and house and furniture envy. Thanks. And BTW, you would cry a bucket of tears if you saw any of the above that belonged to me. ;) Have a GREAT weekend Julie!!!

  3. Lovely space and so neat! At the moment my studio is suffering from Chaos Syndrome (can't have anyone over)

  4. It is so pretty! I love the colors and what you did with that chair but it is tooo NEAT!!! I have stuff all over my desk etc.

  5. What a great space! My office is wherever I drag my laptop. Sometimes the kitchen table, sometimes the recliner, sometimes Starbucks.

  6. looks like an amazing space to create and find some inspiration:O)

  7. Beautiful office, Julie! I have a small desk in the corner of our dining room which sometimes has to function as a sideboard! LOL.

Love the creative things you've done with garage sale treasures.

  8. Love your office!!! Currently I work from the kitchen table and have my writing stuff scattered all over! It's tough, but at this stage in my kids' lives, I need a central location where I can still keep track of everyone, but attempt to work!
