I will praise Him

I spent the evening hiding in a closet under two mattresses with my two-year-old son in my lap. I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life, but this was the scariest storm I've been through. The combination of having a toddler, hearing the tornado sirens blaring, and seeing the red line of the predicted storm path pointing at us, sent me reeling. I prayed a lot, and the Casting Crowns song "Praise You in This Storm" played over and over in my mind.

I'm beyond grateful that the tornadoes didn't rip through our neighborhood. I'm praying for all those in my city, state, and nation who are still in the midst of cleaning up from the fallout of the deadly storms. I also pray that whatever happens, we'll all have the strength to continue praising Him through the storms.

  2. Thanks, guys. I should also add that I'm ordering a storm shelter today. No more hiding in the closet for us. :)

  3. Glad to hear you missed the worst of it, Julie! This weather has been crazy, hasn't it? I'm planning to hunker down later for the storms that are traveling here from your area.

Oh, and about the storm shelter...I convinced my husband to build one under our stairs a few years ago. Since our house doesn't have a basement, I've always been extra nervous during storms. I don't know if our shelter would survive an F5, but it does make me feel a little better. :)

  9. I thought of you when I saw a news photo of a lady holding a melon-sized ball of hail in her hands - and the caption said that it had fallen in Norman, OK.

So glad you guys are alright.
